Dead Oak Tree Removal on University Campus

Outside of Simon Hall on Indiana University campus, a white oak tree in rapid decline needed removal.

It had begun dropping large limbs in a highly trafficked pedestrian area, so the university made the decision to have it taken down. Oak tree removal can be a challenge due to the species’ impressive size, dense hardwood and tough roots. The location of this tree introduced additional challenges. It was nestled in a planting area surrounded by concrete walkways, along a corridor between buildings, right next to a healthy tree.
